November 7 - A TRUE FREE THINKER We will see part of a video showing how the Dalai Lama has reached out to the Jewish community for advice, and we will discuss selections from his writing. Moderator: Lorna McClellan
November 14 - Y2K: WHAT CAN A UU DO? Peter Landecker will share his extensive knowledge of Y2K, and will tell us what we can do to minimize potential problems. Moderator: Peter Landecker
November 21 - VITAL ISSUES How is health affected by a low glycine index diet, and how does such a diet affect diabetes, weight loss, and HDL? Harry Corbello will inform us and share his insights. Moderator: Lorna McClellan
November 28 - COMMUNICATE EFFECTIVELY Learn to be assertive, manage anger, and deal with criticism. Dr. Milton Wolpin, professor emeritus of psychology at USC and psychotherapist, will clarify these issues. Moderator: Les Berg
December 5 - SIMPLE COURAGE Stephanie Castillo, medical reporter for the Honolulu Star-Bulletin, and Hawaii Public Television produced this video tracing the connection between leprosy and AIDS. By examining the leprosy experience, we see what is needed to fight AIDS. Moderator: Lorna McClellan

OPENERS arrive at 10:30, unlock doors, cabinet, put out sign, start water, put on tablecloth, set up cups, coffee, etc. for the refreshments. Please light the fellowship candle.
REFRESHMENTS need to arrive by 10:45. Please arrange a trade if you cannot attend or clean up on the day assigned. When you bring refreshments, it is your turn to be responsible for the clean up of the entire refreshment table including the coffee water and supplies. If you need help, just ask. By the way, thank-you very much!!!
If you cannot bring refreshments on the date listed in the newsletter, you may call someone and trade with them for another date that is more convenient.

November 6 - ANNUAL DINNER We will meet at the Manhattan Beach Schezwan Restaurant at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. The Schezwan is located at Sepulveda (PCH) and 10th Street. Call Beth Perkins for information and reservation.
November 12 - BEACH CITIES SYMPHONY - Friday, 8:15 p.m. at El Camino College, in the Marsee Auditorium (Crenshaw Blvd. At Redondo Beach Blvd., in Torrance.

November 21 - BOARD MEETING following the morning meeting at Mathews Cottage at approximately 12:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome.

January 29 - ANNUAL AUCTION to be held at the home of Lee and Claire Aukerman.

The following SBUF budget for the 1999-2000 fiscal year was approved by the membership at the General Meeting on October 23. Members will need to increase their donations to enable the fellowship to contribute our fair share to the UUA and PSWD and meet the other expenses of the fellowship. The membership also voted to change the time for the beginning of the program or service from 10:45 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. sharp. Refreshments will be available at l0:45 a.m. for those arriving early.
