SEPTEMBER  2002  OCTOBER

“It was we, the people; not we, the white male citizens; nor yet we, the male citizens; but we, the whole people, who formed the union.”              By Susan B. Anthony

SUNDAY  PROGRAMS

September 22.  DOROTHY APPLESEED.  Through poetry, music, art, and photographs, Lorna McClellan would like to share the essence of her mother's life.  Brief selections from a 1990 home video will clarify the personality and humor of her mother, Dorothy.  After Lorna has completed her presentation, we can share our feelings about death and life. Moderator: Lorna.

September 29.  ESCAPE.  Susan Ziemer-Brenner will talk about her survival from the Holocaust.  She has since become a psychiatric nurse and a licensed therapist, specializing in humor.  She has intellectual, philosophical, and humorous insights that make her a dynamic loving person.  Peter Landecker will moderate.  Plan to join Susan for lunch after.

October 6.  SEEKING THE TRUTH.  In the statement of Unitarian Universalist Principles and Purposes, we covenant to affirm and promote a free and responsible search for truth and meaning.  Is this “truth” an ideal or fundamental reality transcending perceived experience?  Do you hold a particular idea as a basic TRUTH of life?  Think about it and come share your thoughts.  Penny Hendricks will present this topic for discussion and moderate.

October 13.  UNITED NATIONS.  Professor James Stansbury of Harbor College will speak on "The United Nations on its 56th Birthday".  Ted Doty moderates.

October 20.  POTLUCK, PARTY, AND GENERAL MEETING.  The annual Libra Party will be held at Beth Perkins' home  at 1 p.m.  Potluck dinner will be followed by this meeting for the whole membership.  At the meeting we will talk about your “fantasy fellowship”, what you want or don’t want.  Your opinions are important and we all need to listen to each other and be heard.  Beth lives in Hawthorne.  Call Beth to RSVP and for directions if you need them.  NO MEETING AT MATHEWS COTTAGE TODAY.

October 27.  To Be Announced!  Got an idea???  Call Beth Perkins.

November 3.  Pre-Election discussion of the propositions, issues, and probably the lesser known candidates.  Beth Perkins moderates.
