SUNDAY PROGRAMS
October 22 - IMPORTANT CHOICES.
Most people
focus on the top statewide race -- the contest for governor of California-- but
there are key down-ballot decisions like the choice for Insurance Commissioner.
The ballot is packed with initiatives including propositions to provide public
campaign financing and finance alternative energy research. John Simpson will moderate a discussion on what progressives
should do this election. Bring
ballots and pertinent information to share.
October 29 - TRUST, BETRAYAL AND FORGIVENESS.
Today’s speaker is Minister Emeritus Ernie Pipes. He
suggests that there are at least two levels of trust: the
innocent trust of the child and the guarded trust of the adult. But betrayal is possible at both levels.
There is a seed of forgiveness in every betrayal. Bob Johnson will moderate.
November 5 - BEYOND RIGHT AND WRONG.
Rumi (1207-1273) said: "There
is a field beyond all notions of right and wrong. Come, meet me there."
Our speaker today is Simone Maudhui. In September of 2005, Simone spoke to us about the energy of
Synthesis. Today she will share
some thoughts on duality and current events. Penny Hendricks will moderate.
November 12 - WHO REALLY WON?
The nation went to the polls last Tuesday. What do the election's results
mean for the nation and the state right now and in the future? John Simpson will moderate a discussion.
November
19 - TOWARD ETHICAL CLARITY. Can one be
ethical but immoral or the reverse? Jerry Parker, a longtime Unitarian and Humanist, will offer some thorny
ethical dilemmas for your consideration and discussion. Peter Landecker will moderate.
November 23 - Happy Thanksgiving
