                                             SUNDAY PROGRAMS

 

July 6 - PATRIOTISM    “Defined as love and devotion to country.” Are you patriotic?  How so?  Do you express your patriotism?   How do you feel about “wearing your patriotism”?   There will be a brief presentation and then the discussion is yours!  Penny Hendricks will moderate.

  

July 13 - SPIRITUAL PRACTICES    Dee Masters will share his interest in the spiritual practices of the big religions and how we can use some of these practices in our lives.  Dee is a member of the Pacific Unitarian Church.  He is also a teacher and a friend to SBUF.  (He has a great speaking voice.)  John Simpson will moderate.

  

July 20 - MAYAN CULTURE    Peter Landecker and Lenore Snodey recently visited Mayan archeological sites and learned about Mayan culture and history in El Salvador, Honduras, Guatemala and Belize.  The two most well known Mayan ruins they visited were Copan and Tikal.  Peter and Lenore will share their experiences with illustrations from video and single photograph images.  The moderator will be Les Berg.

July 27 - AMERICAN INDIAN GAMING –WHERE ARE WE TODAY?    Our speaker and friend, Rhonda Thomas, will give an update as to what’s happening legislatively and socially on the American Indian Reservations in California.  She will talk about the effect of gaming today.  Rhonda Thomas is a member of the Navajo Nation.  Penny Hendricks will moderate.

       *****ATTENTION: For Openers and Refreshment persons:  ***** 

OPENERS arrive at 10:30 a.m., unlock doors, cabinet, put out sign, start water, put on tablecloth, set up cups, coffee, etc. for the refreshments.  Please display the fellowship candle on the circular table.

REFRESHMENTS need to arrive by 11:00 a.m.  Please arrange a trade if you cannot attend or clean up on the day assigned.  When you bring refreshments, it is your turn to be responsible for the clean up of the entire refreshment table including the coffee water and supplies.  If you need help, just ask.  By the way, thank you very much!!!

July 13 Give My Regards to Broadway    The Concert Singers invite you to the annual Music and Ice Cream Social.  This will be a concert of Jazz and Broadway Music. Ice Cream at 3:30 p.m. followed by the concert at 4:00 p.m. This concert will be performed at the Covenant Presbyterian Church, 6323 W. 80th Street, Westchester, CaliforniaSuggested donation:  $15   Checkout www.theconcertsingers.com

WE ARE GLAD YOU ASKED!!!

How do I become a member of the South Bay Unitarian Fellowship??  Membership is open to all persons 15 years of age or older who sign a membership card expressing agreement with the purpose of the Fellowship.  Members become eligible to vote and hold office three months after signing membership cards.  Members are expected to participate in SBUF activities and to provide a helping hand and financial support when needed.  

 

SBUF PROGRAMS   If there is a particular topic you would like to see presented on a Sunday morning, or an organization you want to know more about, or a good book you would like to share, or any other ideas for Sunday morning programs, please call Penny Hendricks. Your input is valuable!  Thank you for your help.
