September 2008 Newsletter
“I believe we will have better government when men and women discuss issues together and make their decisions on the basis of their differing areas of concern for the welfare of their families and their world. Too often the great decisions are originated and given form in bodies made up wholly of men or so completely dominated by them that whatever of special value women have to offer is shunted aside without expression.” by Eleanor Roosevelt
SUNDAY PROGRAMS
September 7 – THE RACE IS ON No matter what thoughts have entered your mind during the last three weeks, come and talk about the good and the bad. Share your anxieties and talk about what really pushes your buttons. Are you hopeful or do you feel hopeless? Will our votes count? Please share your concerns about the future and why you feel the way you do. Penny Hendricks will moderate.
September 14 – JOURNEYING THROUGH THE BLESSED DARKNESS: an exploration of the creative aspects of our SHADOW SELVES. Our guest speaker is a lifelong Unitarian, Barbara Reinhart. Barbara‘s presentation will include illustrations from the classics in children’s literature. Barbara has served our Association as District President and as chair of the Board of the Starr King School for the Ministry. Her lectures and workshops offer meaningful insights into ourselves. Bob Johnson will moderate.
September 21 – FAITH OF AN ATHEIST Theists often claim that atheists are faith-blind and have no reason to have morals. Jerry Parker will discuss the faith and basis for morals of atheists. Jerry Parker is a longtime Unitarian and Humanist philosopher. John Simpson will moderate.
September

Stanbery will return to answer our questions and discuss how the United
