“It’s only when we truly know and understand that we have a limited time on earth ---and that we have no way of knowing when our time is up---that we will begin to live each day to the fullest, as if it was the only one we had.”                                                                                      Elisabeth Kubler Ross

                                              SUNDAY PROGRAMS

November  2 -  THE  FRIENDSHIP FORCE OF LA VISITS ENGLAND   Lenore Snodey and Peter Landecker will present a program about their visit to County Cleveland (near the Tees River in northeast England, and the Isle of Wight (in southern England).  Peter and Lenore stayed with two different families making friends and learning about the history and culture of each area. They will project photos and a video taken to illustrate their adventures.  See http://ff-la.org/photo.htm  for six sample pictures of their trip.  The purpose of Friendship Force is to create personal friendship links between countries.

November 9 - POTLUCK AND  GENERAL MEETING    Come to the home of Linda Klein and Bob Johnson at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday afternoon.  The main dish and dessert will be provided, but side dishes will be appreciated.   Please call Linda and let her know what you will bring.  Come and bring a friend and share the fun.

November 16 - A NEW DAY HAS COME   Come together and share your thoughts and feelings about the history making election.  John Simpson helped with the campaign for Obama in Nevada and also in Missouri.  He will share some of his adventures. John will moderate.

November 23 - GIVING THANKS  AND THINKING POSITIVE   How expressing gratitude can make a difference in how we feel about everything.  We can look at how we can nourish our souls by little adjustment in our attitudes.  Penny Hendricks will lead the program.

November 30 -  “SO, WHAT’S FUNNY ABOUT THE BIBLE & RELIGION”    This is not a Bill Maher religious trashing of religion but a view that sees humor in life, in faith & in religion.   Reverend Jon Dobrer http://www.uufullerton.org/minister.php of the Fullerton Unitarian Church will be our speaker today.  You may remember him as one of the best speakers ever.  In 2006 he was Theme Speaker of PSWIRL http://pswirl.org/ThemeSpeakers.htm .  Currently he is also teaching at the University of Judaism.  Peter Landecker will moderate.

December 7 -  LOST IN THE LAST FRONTIER OR INNOCENTS IN ALASKA  (Gloria, Davis, and Claire).   What can happen when you visit “Sarah country” on a Grand Land & Sea Tour of the state where you can “look over at Russia” for international edification!  Join us for fun, a few facts and some fantasy.  Davis Miller will moderate.

December 14 -  HOLIDAYS/HOLYDAYS   How cultures think about time, and why we mark out some days as different from all other days.   Our speaker will be Reverend Jim Conn http://www.linkedin.com/pub/7/100/492.  Jim is one of our favorite speakers.  At one time he was Mayor of Santa Monica.  He was minister of the Methodist Church of Ocean Park.  In 2004 he was Theme speaker of PSWIRL.  Currently he is involved with outreach for the Methodist Church.  Penny will moderate.
