August 30 – NO MEETING AT MATHEWS COTTAGE
September 6 – LABOR DAY WEEKEND This Labor Day marks a critical (and dangerous) time for American workers. John Simpson will describe the renewed movement to restore rights stolen from workers in past years. He will explain pending pro-labor legislation and describe the powerful threats to it from corporate and rightwing interests. Thom Kilpatrick will moderate.
September 13 - THE POWER OF “BEINGNESS” Our speaker Simone Maudhui will share some thoughts on our inner divinity and its power, basically how we have much more power than we think, and without "doing" anything. Simone has been teaching and lecturing on a variety of subjects relevant to the challenges of living in our times. She works to build a synthesis between religion, science, psychology and spirituality. Her passion is to expose the Universal Oneness underlying the diversity in our world. Penny Hendricks will moderate.
September 20 – REALIGNING PRESIDENCIES: “Does Obama’s Signal a New Political Era?” The gist of it is that, by the theories of political cycles taught in history classes, a new cycle is certainly due, but that it is too early to tell yet whether Obama’s presidency will bring it about. Jim Stanbery will present this topic. In the past Jim has presented a program about the United Nations. He teaches political science at Harbor College. Bob Johnson moderates.
September 27 – UUSC Lucia Muñoz will speak to us about Unitarian Universalist Service Committee. She will discuss some of the issues and programs our service committee is involved in currently. Peter Landecker will moderate.
