                                         SUNDAY PROGRAMS

April 3 LABOR UNDER FIRE    It started in Wisconsin and has spread to other states with Republican governors: demonizing public employees and making efforts to break public workers' unions. A look at what's behind the alarming trend and why it threatens us all.  John Simpson will moderate

April 10  EAST AFRICAN SAFARI   Les Berg brings a movie produced by award winning filmmaker Rick Ray.   This film includes the Great Rift Valley and the coffee  plantations of Kenya.  Also included is the Ngorongoro Conservation Area in the Serengeti National Park of Tanzania and the rain Forest of Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park where the endangered mountain gorillas make their home.  Come along to the Safari.  This program will begin a little early to allow us to see as much as possible.  We can enjoy refreshments while we watch.

April 17   WAKE-UP CALL:  RAISING OUR CONSCIOUSNESS    This is a tape introduced by Tom Brokaw, and featuring journalist Bob Woodward and Michelle Obama.  Whether you approved of the war or not, this will perhaps give you a new awareness of the thousands of people that have been affected and will continue to be affected every day.  Penny Hendricks will moderate.

April 24 – OUR SOCIALISTIC GOVERNMENT   Quite a few people feel taxes should be severely reduced, and they want to "get government out of the way." This would mean that many of the services presently furnished by the government would have to be eliminated. We’ll examine some of these services, and estimate how much they would cost each of us, including conservatives and Libertarians, who use them if privatized.  Jerry Parker will present this subject and lead our discussion.  Bob Johnson will moderate.
