SUNDAY
PROGRAMS
March 4 - WHAT IS
THIS THING CALLED LOVE? Reverend Jon Dobrer,
currently minister of the Fullerton Unitarian Church, will speak. Jon has
taught Islam, its origins and beliefs, both at the Graduate Theological Union in
Berkeley and as Professor at the University of Judaism. Dobrer was
selected by the Los Angeles Times as one of the ten most compelling speakers in
Southern California. This no doubt is owed to having worked his way
through USC as a stand up comedian. Please come. Carol Simpson will
moderate.
March 11 - THE
ROMANTIC MOVEMENT AND UNITARIANISM Dee Masters will return
to share words from the Romantic period. These are some Romantic writings
that show the connection and influence of the Romantics on Unitarianism.
Dee Masters spoke to the fellowship in January about the Romantic movement.
He is returning to share some of the writing from that period. Bob Johnson
will moderate.
March 18 -
CHOCOLATE!! A comprehensive presentation of one the world’s
favorite tastes. Everything you might want to know about this “food of the
gods” will be discussed: discovery, production and processing to currently
known health benefits and why the price will rise. But you
have to be willing to stay on the DARK SIDE. Presentation by a special
guest. Penny Hendricks will moderate.
The Church parking lot will be closed on March 25, so the SBUF meeting on this date has been cancelled. Peter's program has been postponed to Sunday, April 1.
March 25 – REVILLAGIGEDO ISLANDS Peter Landecker visited the volcanic Revillagigedo Islands (including Socorro) in the Pacific west of Mexico in this exotic Scuba diving trip made friends with boobies and 25 foot wide manta rays. Come and hear Peter relate his experiences in this isolated biological refuge and see the images and videos he recorded. Les Berg will moderate. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Revillagigedo_Islands
