PROGRAMS
April 6 - ON YOUR
MIND OR IN THE NEWS Have you read, seen or heard something
recently that concerns you, or that you want to explore further? John
and Carol Simpson will moderate this discussion of current events.
April 13 –
1491, NEW REVELATIONS OF THE AMERICAS BEFORE COLUMBUS
Come hear about the Americas that you were never taught
in school. Before the scourge of disease brought from Europe, many parts
of the Americas were populated by sophisticated societies, both agricultural and
hunter/gatherer. Come hear about the first Thanksgiving from a native
American point of view (clearly not 1491). Come share how your views of Indians
(native Americans) might be changed by this new perspective. Bob Johnson
will present.
April 20 –
WISDOM TALES FROM AROUND THE WORLD Meron Castain
will share folktales and parables from such diverse traditions as Sufi, Zen,
Taoist, Christian, Jewish, Buddhist, African, and Native American. Meron
will moderate.
April 27 –
FRIENDLY VISIT TO ONTARIO Peter Landecker will present a
program about his visit to Ontario, Canada with the Friendship Force. He
joined a Friendship Force group from Hartford to visit St. Catherine's, the
Stratford area, Toronto and North Bay. A trip highlight was his choosing
the night colors for the American and Canadian Niagara Falls. He will
share some of the cultural things he learned during this wonderful trip as well
as share some of the beautiful images he recorded. TBA will
moderate.
