When conservatism was a movement, it attracted oddballs; now that its a movement with power, it attracts sleaze balls. David Brooks, quoted in Nation, December 24, 2005
SUNDAY
PROGRAMS
May 4 - ON YOUR
MIND OR IN THE NEWS Have you read, seen or heard something
recently that concerns you, or that you want to explore further? Penny
Hendricks will moderate this discussion of current events.
May 11 OUR
PHYLOGENETIC MOTHER This is the mother we are less aware
of, but mainly influences us. Reverend Emeritus Ernie Pipes will
present this Mother's Day program. Our friend Ernie Pipes returns to share
his thoughts. Bob Johnson will moderate.
May 18
EXPLORING MINDFULNESS THROUGH BEING MINDFUL We can learn to live
in the present moment in an enjoyable way instead of worrying about tomorrow or
fretting over yesterday. Join Rev.Teri for an exploration of the practice of
mindfulness. There will be mindful practices and mirthful ones, too.
Better this than a lot of other things you could be thinking about! Rev.
Teri Masters is a chapel minister at the Wayfarers Chapel in Rancho Palos
Verdes. Rev. Masters is an experienced hospice chaplain and grief
counselor Rev. Teri and husband Dee have two adult daughters and one
grandson.
May 25 - THE
NEW WORLD POPE The more I see about him and see who he is, I am
impressed by his Unitarian Universalist leanings and reminded of my early
Baptist teachings. Penny will share a tape done by 60 minutes.
