                                               SUNDAY PROGRAMS

July 5 – IN THE NEWS AND ON YOUR MIND  What concerns do you have?  Why are some problems getting worse?  Churches are being attacked.  And what about the Supreme Court decisions?  What do you think of the latest from Pope Francis?  Come and talk about some of it.  Penny Hendricks will open the program.

July 12 – THE FEMALE BRAIN  Author and Psychiatrist Daniel Amen presented this topic and research on the Dr. Oz show. “How to unleash the power of the female brain.”   Dr. Amen studied over 46,000 brain scans. The study offered new insights according to Dr. Amen into how the male and female brain work very differently.  There are five strengths that make the female brain more powerful than the male brain.  Penny Hendricks will present the program.

July 19 – EXPLORING ENGLAND, SCOTLAND, and WALES with Peter Landecker. Peter recently returned from a 19 day trip starting in London, heading through Wales, and ending in the Scottish Highlands. Great Britain has a rich history and offers beautiful scenery. Peter will share his experiences, illustrated by his beautiful photographic images.  Bob Johnson will moderate.

July 26 - REVISITING VIETNAM   Joe McCarthy’s ghost haunted Johnson’s decision on Vietnam.  LBJ was no doubt haunted by McCarthy just as many other people at the time.  Our speaker Joe Marcin will talk about about the influences at the time and push to continue the war in Southeast Asia.  Penny will moderate.

August 2 – IF IT BOTHERS YOU, LET’S TALK ABOUT IT! What news concerns do you have?  Why are some problems getting worse?  Penny Hendricks will moderate this program.

August 9 – INCOME AND WEALTH INEQUALITY – The media is awash with information on income/wealth inequality.   How has this come to be such a hot topic?  This will  presented from the perspectives of three non-conventional economists – Minsky, Piketty and Keen.
