November 2015 Newsletter

“The way I define spirituality is a deeply held belief that we are inextricably connected to one another by something bigger than us, and something that is grounded in love. Some people call that God, and some people call that fishing.”     Brene Brown -- Time Sep 21, 2015

                                               SUNDAY PROGRAMS

November 1 – IN THE NEWS AND ON YOUR MIND  Let’s talk about it with Carol Simpson.  Here is another chance to express your concerns or ideas about whatever it is.  Carol will moderate.

November 8 – ACADIAN SOJOURN    Come hear a story of Cajun Louisiana in the late 1960’s.  Lorna McClellan and her husband Mike had a musical visit in South-west Louisiana.  Lorna will share memories and music from this distinctive and captivating part of our country.  Lorna will moderate.

November 15 – IS THAT ALL THERE IS?   WHAT HAPPENS TO US WHEN WE DIE?    What happens to our brain, our consciousness, our spiritual selves, and the physical body that we leave behind?  Perhaps it all depends on who you ask and/or what you learn from your religion.   We follow along with someone‘s search for an answer that is acceptable.  This will be a 20 minute tape and followed with time for discussion.  Penny Hendricks will moderate.

November 22 -  A FIERCE UNREST--- ANGER AND VIOLENCE IN AMERICA

This day marks another loss to gun violence that will not be forgotten.   Our speaker today is Rev. Jon Dobrer.  Jon retired in June, 2014 after 45 years in the ministry.  Jon continues to teach and write his news column.  For us, he is a favorite speaker as he wraps his words in palatable tasty bites with humor. Penny Hendricks is the moderator.
