                                               SUNDAY PROGRAMS   

 

July 3 - Core Values of America are Progressive by FDR with the help of JFK, LBJ, & HRC.  Video clips from the Thom Hartmann show on May 24, 2016.  The video clips show Thom commenting on audio clips of FDR plus the others.  Libertarianism is un-American.  Chuck Hendricks presents the program.

  

July 10 – NOT JUST THE LADY WITH A LAMP   This is a program presented by Joy.  Florence Nightingale was born into a wealthy Victorian family and rejected it for a life of service.  While she is remembered as the pioneer in training nurses, she took on other health issues of the time using her mathematics and writing skills.

  

July 17 – REFLECTIONS ON THE SPANISH CIVIL WAR  Joe Marcin leads a program looking back after 80 years at this time in history.

 

 

July 24 – NOW IS THE SUMMER OF OUR DISCONTENT…Our speaker today, UU Minister

    Jon Dobrer,  returns to shine his light on some of the pain and trouble in the world.

    At my request Jon agreed to bring some of his written stuff.  Come and hear Jon’s perspective on what is happening. 

 

July 31 – MISOGYNY IN AMERICA   Penny Hendricks presents this program with the help of Rachel Maddow of MSNBC and a look at some real women who have become leaders in the world.

 *****ATTENTION: For Openers and Refreshment persons:  *********************

OPENERS arrive at 10:30, unlock doors, cabinet, put out signs, put on tablecloths, make the coffee, start water, set up cups, coffee, etc. for the refreshments.  Please display the fellowship candle on the circular table.  Place the Guest Book, name tags, and offering basket on the long table.

REFRESHMENTS need to arrive by 11:00 a.m.  Please arrange a trade if you cannot attend or clean up on the day assigned.  When you bring refreshments, it is your turn to be responsible for the clean up of the entire refreshment table including the coffee, water, tablecloths and supplies.  If you need help, just ask.

   If you cannot bring refreshments on the date listed in the newsletter, you may call someone and trade with them for another date that will be more convenient for you.

Hooray!  We have a new member.  Yullan Valor signed a SBUF membership card in March.  Yullan has attended whenever her schedule permitted and has added some tasty additions to some of our potlucks.  Welcome,Yullan  

Spring has Sprung and the Fellowship is growing.  We have another new member and it is only April.  Bernard Elias signed a SBUF membership card on April 24th.  The next time you are at fellowship, introduce yourself. 

From UUA:  We covenant to affirm and promise a free and responsible search for truth and meaning. A goal of world community with peace, liberty and justice for all.

How do I become a member of the South Bay Unitarian Fellowship?  Membership is open to all persons 15 years of age or older who sign a membership card expressing agreement with the purpose of the Fellowship.  Members become eligible to vote and hold office three months after signing membership cards.  Members are expected to participate in SBUF activities and to provide a helping hand and financial support when needed and are able to do so.  

 

SBUF Programs   If there is a particular topic you would like to see presented on a Sunday morning, or an organization you want to know more about, or a good book you would like to share, or any other ideas for Sunday morning programs, please call Penny Hendricks. Your input is valuable!  Thank you for your help.
