                                               SUNDAY PROGRAMS   

October 2 – EASTERN EUROPE     In April and May 2016, Peter Landecker visited this part of the world for a month, and will relate his experiences. He will share some visual images he took on this trip, which included a river cruise from Berlin to Prague on the Elbe. He visited Germany, the Czech Republic, and the Netherlands. The culture in this area was significantly changed from 1935-2000. 

October 9 – MOVE TO AMEND…..END CORPORATE RULE     Over the past six years, local MoveToAmend.org volunteers have passed hundreds of resolutions supporting the We the People Amendment  Our volunteer organizers have also worked to pass a number ballot initiatives and in every instance have resulted in resounding victories both red and blue districts. Our speaker today is Ann Porter 

October 16 – GREAT NATIVE AMERICAN WARRIOR CHIEFS   Today we will take a look at stories that will be told for generations.  Stories of Chief Big Foot, Sitting Bull, Cochise, Black Hawk, and Chief Joseph.  Meron Castain has brought us these stories that have protected the rights, customs, traditions, and cultures of these people.  Penny will moderate.

October 30 – LOOKING AT THE BALLOTS  Nov. 8th is just around the corner.  Please bring your OFFICIAL VOTER INFORMATION GUIDE…….Also bring any articles or information that you  can share during the discussion of the 17 propositions that are listed.  If you have a strong point of view, plan to share your thoughts.

  *****ATTENTION: For Openers and Refreshment persons:  *********************

OPENERS arrive at 10:30, unlock doors, cabinet, put out signs, put on tablecloths, make the coffee, start water, set up cups, coffee, etc. for the refreshments.  Please display the fellowship candle on the circular table.  Place the Guest Book, name tags, and offering basket on the long table.

REFRESHMENTS need to arrive by 11:00 a.m.  Please arrange a trade if you cannot attend or clean up on the day assigned.  When you bring refreshments, it is your turn to be responsible for the clean up of the entire refreshment table including the coffee, water, tablecloths and supplies.  If you need help, just ask.

If you cannot bring refreshments on the date listed in the newsletter, you may call someone and trade with them for another date that will be more convenient for you.

Hooray!  We have a new member.  Yullan Valor signed a SBUF membership card in March.  Yullan has attended whenever her schedule permitted and has added some tasty additions to some of our potlucks.  Welcome,Yullan  

Spring has Sprung and the Fellowship is growing.  We have another new member and it is only April.  Bernard Elias signed a SBUF membership card on April 24th.  The next time you are at fellowship, introduce yourself. 

From UUA:  We covenant to affirm and promise a free and responsible search for truth and meaning. A goal of world community with peace, liberty and justice for all.

How do I become a member of the South Bay Unitarian Fellowship?  Membership is open to all persons 15 years of age or older who sign a membership card expressing agreement with the purpose of the Fellowship.  Members become eligible to vote and hold office three months after signing membership cards.  Members are expected to participate in SBUF activities and to provide a helping hand and financial support when needed and are able to do so.  

 

SBUF Programs   If there is a particular topic you would like to see presented on a Sunday morning, or an organization you want to know more about, or a good book you would like to share, or any other ideas for Sunday morning programs, please call Penny Hendricks. Your input is valuable!  Thank you for your help.

In September on Sunday, the 25th, there was no SBUF meeting, due to illness and the speaker had to cancel.  We are sorry if anyone was inconvenienced.
