April 2017 Newsletter

“Our understanding must grow to encompass a union of nature and culture in which the sacredness of all life is honored.”

                                               SUNDAY PROGRAMS

April 2 – BILL MAHER WITH OTHERS A pleasant conservative, Jeffrey Lord, defends Trump.  A real conservative, Charlie Sykes, worries about Trump.  Joy Reid and Rosa Brooks, liberals, keep things in line.  Finally, environmentalist, Bill McKibben, is received by audience as a rock star.  After listening to Dr. McKibben, it is hard to disagree with the audience. Brought to you by Penny Hendricks.  What do you think?

April 9 – US Health Care - Part II -  What could be done to transition from our current fragmented, high cost health care to a universal social insurance model like Switzerland based on principles of solidarity, individual responsibility as well as affordability.

April 16  EASTERSt. Paul’s Congregation needs more parking space on this special Sunday in the Methodist Church. (No SBUF meeting today.)

April 23 – GOING INSIDE WITH BONNIE    As a psychotherapist Bonnie Folkart has been teaching meditation to clients with a firm belief in the health benefits.  Bonnie will be instructing an introduction to meditation techniques.

April 30 – "RACISM AND ITS EFFECTS”  from Reverend Dr. Stephen H. Furrer. The resignation of UUA President Peter Morales following assertions that he remained insensitive to anti-racist issues, particularly with respect to hiring practices at the higher levels in the UUA, has led to a denomination-wide effort to raise awareness of anti-racist, anti-oppression, and multicultural efforts to make our movement more whole. Thoughts and reflections on this and associated issues.
