March-April 2016 Newsletter

Sooner or later all of the people of the world will have to discover a way to live together in peace, and thereby transform this pending cosmic elegy into a creative psalm of brotherhood, a man must evolve for all human conflict a method which rejects revenge, aggression, and retaliation. The foundation of such a method is love.”    Martin Luther King , in December, 1964  (from his Nobel Peace Prize Speech)

                                               SUNDAY PROGRAMS

March 27 – FIRST DO NO HARM  In October, 2015, we learned about Brittany Maynard and her facing death due to brain cancer.  She made a choice to end her own life before the pain and changes would make her incapacitated.  She had to travel to Oregon to be able legally do this.  As of June 1st California law allows a patient who is faced with a similar prognosis to follow a similar method. Penny Hendricks presents this program.

April 3 – THE IRON MAN  Come to hear about John C. Calhoun from our speaker Robert Monzingo.  Bob has been attending Pacific Unitarian Church.  Penny will moderate.

April 10 – MORE ON UNITARIAN HISTORY   Come and see the 2nd in a series of DVD's on the history of Unitarianism. This DVD will cover the period from the death of Michael Servetus in the mid 1500's to Joseph Priestly. We travel from Transylvania to Poland and end in England around 1800. Bob Johnson will moderate this program.

April 17 - THE CONUNDRUM OF TERROR   UU Minister Jon Dobrer will share his thoughts and “solve” the puzzle------.  Come and hear what he has to say.  Penny will lead the program.  Jon has a way of enlightening us.

April 24 – ON THE GROUND WITH STEVE HARVEY IN FLINT MICHIGAN
