                                               SUNDAY PROGRAMS   

 

January 5 –  Climate crisis protests  Chris Hayes discusses the protests for solutions to global warming with Jane Fonda.  Penny will moderate. 

 

January 12 –  uncomfortable conversations  A presentation and discussion led by UU Rev. Jon Dobrer, a Starr King and Theological Union graduate, served the UU Church in Fullerton from 1993-2014.  Jon continues teaching, doing columns for newsgroups, newspapers and writing about our world.  We welcome Jon again.  Penny will moderate.

 

January 19 SBUF POTLUCK AND WHITE ELEPHANT PARTY  

It’s time for the annual Fellowship Holiday Party and Potluck 

Please join us on Sunday, January 19, 2020 at 2:00 pm

Bring a wrapped ‘white elephant’ for the gift game to follow potluck dinner. 

Please RSVP and let Eric and Karen know what pot you are bringing to their home.

So bring your good cheer, your white elephant, and your pot for an evening of fun and good food.

 

January 26 –  changing perceptions in gender and sex in the usa today  Dee Masters will present this program.  Dee is a teacher at Bishop Montgomery High school in Torrance, he is a philosopher, and he is a friend to our fellowship.  (He is also married to Teri Masters.) 

 

February 2 -- Program TBD

 

February 9 –  Roatan   Peter Landecker recently visited Roatan, Honduras and will relate his experiences with illustrated images. Roatan is an island isolated from the economic and security problems common in mainland Honduras. There are beautiful and fascinating underwater critters in Roatan.

*****ATTENTION: For Openers and Refreshment Persons:  *********************

OPENERS arrive at 10:30 a.m., unlock doors, cabinet, put out signs, put on tablecloths, make the coffee, start water, set up cups, coffee, etc. for the refreshments.  Please display the fellowship candle on the circular table.  Place the Guest Book, name tags, and offering basket on the long table.

REFRESHMENTS need to arrive by 11:00 a.m.  Please arrange a trade if you cannot attend or clean up on the day assigned.  When you bring refreshments, it is your turn to be responsible for the clean up of the entire refreshment table including the coffee, water, tablecloths and supplies.  If you need help, just ask.

If you cannot bring refreshments on the date listed in the newsletter, you may call someone and trade with them for another date that will be more convenient for you.

How do I become a member of the South Bay Unitarian Fellowship?  Membership is open to all persons 15 years of age or older who sign a membership card expressing agreement with the purpose of the Fellowship.  Members become eligible to vote and hold office three months after signing membership cards.  Members are expected to participate in SBUF activities and to provide a helping hand and financial support when needed and are able to do so.  

 

SBUF Programs   If there is a particular topic you would like to see presented on a Sunday morning, or an organization you want to know more about, or a good book you would like to share, or any other ideas for Sunday morning programs, please call Penny Hendricks. Your input is valuable!  Thank you for your help.
